This Privacy Policy explains what information Cinema ("we", "us", "this website") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We try to collect as little as possible. You do not need an account to use the website.
Information stored on your device
To make the website work, your browser stores some information locally on your device (using local storage). This includes your saved titles, your watched titles, and your filter choices such as mood, genre, language and streaming services. This information stays on your device. We do not receive it and we cannot see it. You can remove it at any time by clearing the site data in your browser settings.
Information our servers process
When you use the website, your browser sends requests to our hosting provider (Netlify) so that pages and movie data can be delivered. Like most web servers, the hosting provider may process technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and to operate the service. We use the approximate country derived from your connection to show streaming availability and theatre listings that match your country.
Analytics
We use GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to count visits. It reports page views, the website that referred you, your country, and your browser and device type. It does not use cookies and does not build advertising profiles. You can learn more at goatcounter.com.
Third-party services
- TMDB supplies movie and TV data and images. Posters and backdrops are loaded from TMDB servers, which means TMDB can see your IP address when images load.
- JustWatch data, delivered through TMDB, tells us where a title can be streamed.
- YouTube hosts trailers. A trailer is loaded only when you press the Trailer button, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. YouTube may collect information and set cookies when you play a video, under Google's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts provides the typeface used by the website, so Google receives your IP address when the font is loaded.
- Netlify hosts the website.
Advertising
We may show advertisements on this website using Google AdSense. When advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or learn about other choices at aboutads.info.
